How do you feel about making art?

Cathy Malchiodi has a great blog entry today: Women Making Art: A Time Guiltily Seized. In it I found this lovely clip from filmmaker Pamela Tanner Boll. Her documentary, "Who Does She Think She Is?” relates the stories of five women who are professional artists and mothers, the critical importance of art in their lives, and how both parenting and art making are often devalued in our culture. Read Cathy's blog and enjoy the clip.

Thank you so much for the information. I am raising grandkids and doing art. I feel I do not contribute to the world. I always want to be bigger than I am. My art is small and my job a raising kids never ends. I know in my heart I need to do the art to stay sane. Make any money at it? I used to. But is was commercial and that was very frustrating. Now I have spent my money on the kids, court battles, and art supplies. Art is all I have. I like the young girl in the clip who says shes in the forest with no guardians and she can hear the wolves. How brave is she? I am old and I hear the wolves so I must do art. Most times my art does me. I really wish I could have contributed more but most of life has been healing...myself through art and now the little ones.
thanks again
